History
Itako Station opened on 20 August 1970 in the city of Itako, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the Kashima Line, which it serves at a point 5.2 km from the line's official starting point at Katori Station. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The layout consists of a single elevated island platform with the station building underneath; the station remains staffed.
