Sundome Nishi Station opened on 13 August 1929 as Kami-Sabae Station on the Fukui Railway Fukubu Line in the city of Sabae, Fukui Prefecture. It was renamed Sundome Nishi on 25 March 2010, taking the name of the nearby Sundome Fukui event hall. The station consists of one ground-level side platform serving a single bidirectional track and has no permanent staff. It lies 4.1 km from the Takefu-shin terminus and serves a predominantly residential area of Sabae, with Sabae High School also nearby.
