History
Nisshin Station opened on 22 July 1940 in Kita-ku, Saitama, on JR East's Kawagoe Line, which it serves at a point 3.7 km from Ōmiya. The line was electrified on 30 September 1985, after which through-running with the Saikyo Line began; the station passed to JR East at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. A rebuilding programme that began in March 2010 added new north- and south-side entrances and an over-track concourse linked to the platforms by escalators and lifts, with new toilets inside and outside the north entrance; the work was completed during 2011. The station has two side platforms with an elevated station building and remains staffed.
