History
Sports Kōen Station opened on 25 March 2010 as a new addition to the Fukui Railway Fukubu Line, located in the city of Echizen, Fukui Prefecture. It was the first new station on the Fukubu Line in 13 years, following Harmony Hall Station in 1997, and was built as part of a line-rebuilding initiative. The station has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track and is unattended. Its name comes from the adjacent Iehisa Sports Park, the facility it primarily serves. Sports Kōen lies 1.7 km from the line terminus at Takefu-shin.
