History
Ireji Station opened on 1 January 1901 on the Ryūsaki Railroad in what is now the city of Ryūgasaki, Ibaraki Prefecture. The line was merged into the Kashima Sangū Railway in 1944, and that company in turn became Kantō Railway in 1965, so the station has been operated by Kantō Railway since. It is an unstaffed halt 2.2 km from the line's starting point at Sanuki, with a single side platform serving traffic in both directions and no station building.
