History

Jūnikyō Station opened on 20 August 1970 as a passenger station on the Japanese National Railways Kashima Line, in what is now Katori, Chiba Prefecture. It was absorbed into JR East on 1 April 1987 following privatisation. The waiting room was renovated in 2007, and the station joined the Tokyo Suburban Area on 14 March 2009, with Suica IC card service introduced on 14 March 2020. The station has one elevated side platform with a weather shelter, accommodating up to six-car trains, and is unattended. It is the only intermediate station on the Kashima Line located in Chiba Prefecture.

Notes

Until the 1970s the station's waterway-laced surroundings had no roads — local traffic moved by boat through the canals.
