History
Yashio Station opened on 24 August 2005 as part of the inaugural Tsukuba Express service connecting Akihabara with Tsukuba. Operated by the Metropolitan Intercity Railway Company, it sits 15.6 km from the Akihabara terminus in the city of Yashio, Saitama, and carries station number TX08. The station is one of three on the line built with passing tracks on parallel platforms, allowing faster services to overtake stopping trains and supporting morning commuter terminations from Akihabara. From the 16 March 2024 timetable revision, Yashio became a stopping point for Rapid services as well.

Notes
Holding sidings immediately north of the platforms allow Tsukuba Express trains to be removed from or added to service mid-day.
