History

Shimura-sanchōme Station entered service on 27 December 1968 with the opening of Toei Subway Line 6, having been carried through planning under the provisional name "Shimura-yonchōme". Line 6 was rebranded as the Mita Line on 1 July 1978. North of Shimura-sakaue the Mita Line surfaces from its tunnel, so this station is an elevated structure with two side platforms serving two tracks. An elevator linking the platform and concourse levels was completed at the end of March 2006, PASMO IC cards were accepted from 18 March 2007, and a covered waiting area on the Track 1 (Meguro-bound) platform opened on 24 March 2015.
