History

Chikatetsu-akatsuka Station is a subway stop in Nerima, Tokyo, operated by Tokyo Metro and served by both the Yūrakuchō Line (Y-03) and the Fukutoshin Line (F-03). It opened on 24 June 1983 as Eidan-Akatsuka Station on the Teito Rapid Transit Authority's Yūrakuchō Line and was renamed Chikatetsu-Akatsuka — literally "Subway-Akatsuka" — on 1 April 2004 when TRTA was privatised and the facility passed to Tokyo Metro. The station lies 3.6 kilometres from the joint Yūrakuchō and Fukutoshin terminus at Wakōshi, and waist-height platform-edge doors were installed in September 2010.

Notes

The "Chikatetsu" prefix is Japanese for "subway". Nearby Shimo-Akatsuka Station on the Tōbu Tōjō Line is a short walk away.
