History
Keisei Kanamachi Station opened on 21 October 1913 as 'Kanamachi Station' on the Keisei Electric Tramway extension from Shibamata, becoming the terminus of what is now the Keisei Kanamachi Line. The site succeeded an earlier 1899 human-powered Teishaku tramway also called Kanamachi. The station took its present name on 18 November 1931 to differentiate it from the adjacent JR Kanamachi Station. On 25 June 1945 the operator's status changed from tramway to railway. Track gauge was changed from 1,372 mm to 1,435 mm on 16 November 1959. After Keisei-Takasago Station's dedicated platforms were completed, through services to the Keisei Main Line and Toei Asakusa Line ended on 4 July 2010, and all trains now shuttle between Keisei-Takasago and Keisei Kanamachi.

Notes
Despite its single-track terminus layout, the station cannot be expanded further: a tight curve on the four-car platform fits a sliver of land, and there is no remaining property along the alignment to accept longer trains.
