History
Hikarigaoka Station opened on 10 December 1991 as the western terminus of the Toei Subway line then designated Route 12, sited near the centre of the Hikarigaoka housing estate in Nerima, Tokyo. Route 12 was renamed the Oedo Line on 20 April 2000. PASMO acceptance began on 18 March 2007, and platform-edge doors were placed in service on 8 December 2012. The station retains a single island platform serving two tracks; original plans called for a wider two-platform, four-track terminus to accommodate ten-car operation, but the scheme was scaled back at construction. A 2016 Transport Council report recommends extending the line beyond Hikarigaoka toward Tokorozawa via Niiza and Kiyose.
