History

Shibayama-Chiyoda Station opened on 27 October 2002 as the eastern terminus of the 2.2 km Shibayama Railway Line in Chiba Prefecture's town of Shibayama. Built immediately east of Narita International Airport, the elevated station serves a single track and is the only stop on the line under direct Shibayama Railway management. Daytime services run through to and from Keisei Narita via the Keisei Higashi-Narita Line, with peak-hour through trains continuing to Keisei Ueno in central Tokyo. The 2.0 km licence between the provisional Shibatetsu Narita Airport site and the present station had been issued in 1988, and the line's final name was fixed in April 2001.

Notes

Despite being the eastern terminus of a line that through-runs with Toei subway services, Shibayama-Chiyoda is the only station on the connected Tokyo subway network where Suica and PASMO IC cards cannot be used.
