History
Shin-Shibamata Station opened on 31 March 1991 as part of the Hokusō Line in Katsushika, Tokyo. The elevated station sits at the easternmost point of Katsushika Ward and is the only Hokusō Railway-managed station in the Tokyo metropolitan area, where it also marks the line's westernmost own-managed stop. Hokusō Railway assigned it station number HS01 on 17 July 2010 when numbering was rolled out across the network, and a station departure melody was introduced on 31 March 2017 before being changed on 26 August 2017 to the theme tune from the long-running film series Otoko wa Tsurai yo, in keeping with the Shibamata neighbourhood's cultural association with that franchise.

Notes
The station's departure melody is the theme from the Tora-san film series, reflecting its location near the Shibamata district that serves as the protagonist's fictional hometown.
