History

Hikawadai Station opened on 24 June 1983 on the Teito Rapid Transit Authority's Yūrakuchō Line, in Hikawadai, Nerima Ward, Tokyo. It was inherited by Tokyo Metro after the TRTA's privatisation in 2004, and Fukutoshin Line services through the same platforms commenced on 14 June 2008 once that line opened end-to-end. Chest-height platform-edge doors were installed in August 2010, and a station-specific departure melody — replacing the line-wide tune — was introduced on 24 February 2011. The platforms sit on a curve in a twin single-bore shielded tunnel between Heiwadai and Kotake-mukaihara, which is the reason Hikawadai is one of the only two relative-platform stations on the Yūrakuchō Line and the only one on the Fukutoshin Line.

Notes

The Yūrakuchō Line at Hikawadai runs through paired single-bore shielded tunnels, which is why Hikawadai is one of only two stations on the line with opposed side platforms instead of an island platform.
