History
Higashi-Fussa Station opened on 10 December 1931 with the inauguration of the Hachikō Line between Hachiōji and Higashi-Hannō, in the city of Fussa, Tokyo. Freight handling ended on 1 June 1957 and baggage operations on 10 April 1958. A passing loop was completed in October 1966, and the station was destaffed on 1 April 1986, the year before the privatisation of Japanese National Railways transferred operations to JR East. The 47.5 km segment between Hachiōji and Komagawa was electrified on 16 March 1996, enabling through services to and from Kawagoe on the Kawagoe Line. The original west-side building was finally demolished in July 2016, and the site was repurposed as a Fussa City bicycle parking facility.
