History

Toden-zōshigaya Station (SA 26) is a Tokyo Toden Arakawa Line stop in Minami-Ikebukuro 3-chōme, Toshima, Tokyo. It opened on 12 November 1925 as Zōshigaya Station when the Ōji Electric Tramway extended its line between Ōtsuka-eki-mae and Kishibojin-mae. It passed to the Tokyo City Tram Wasada Line (today's Arakawa Line) on 1 February 1942 when Ōji Electric was absorbed by Tokyo City. After wartime suspension in 1944, the line resumed on 10 July 1946. On 14 June 2008 the stop was renamed Toden-zōshigaya to distinguish it from the newly opened Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line Zōshigaya Station, which is actually connected at the next Toden stop south, Kishibojin-mae. Two opposed side platforms.

Notes

Toden-zōshigaya was renamed in 2008 to avoid confusion with Tokyo Metro's new Zōshigaya Station — but the actual subway transfer point is the next stop south, Kishibojin-mae, not Toden-zōshigaya itself.
