History
Izumi-Taiikukan Station opened on 27 November 1998 when the first stretch of the Tama Toshi Monorail Line was inaugurated between Kamikitadai and Tachikawa-kita. The stop sits above Tokyo Metropolitan Route 43 in Tachikawa's Izumi district and was originally drafted as "Shin-Izumi" after the area name, but was renamed for the adjacent Tachikawa Municipal Izumi Gymnasium. The elevated structure follows the line's standard template with two opposed side platforms over the carriageway. Station numbering was applied across the monorail in February 2018.

Notes
The station was nearly named "Shin-Izumi" after the locality before planners adopted the adjacent municipal gymnasium's name.
