History
Kudanshita Station is a three-line underground interchange in Chiyoda, Tokyo, served jointly by Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway. It opened on 23 December 1964 as the eastern terminus of the new Tōzai Line, then extended from Takadanobaba. The Toei Shinjuku Line platforms followed on 16 March 1980, and the Hanzōmon Line platforms on 26 January 1989. After the Teito Rapid Transit Authority was privatised in 2004 the Tōzai and Hanzōmon Line facilities passed to Tokyo Metro. Work to remove the wall dividing the parallel Hanzōmon and Shinjuku Line platforms on basement level 4 finished on 16 March 2013, finally allowing direct cross-platform interchange between the two operators.

Notes
Since 2015 the Tōzai Line platforms have used "Under the Big Onion" by Bakufū Slump as the departure melody, a nod to the giant onion-shaped finial on the nearby Nippon Budokan.
