History

Higashi-nihombashi Station is a Toei Asakusa Line subway stop in Chūō, Tokyo, operated by Toei Subway. It opened on 31 May 1962 as a station on what was then numbered Toei Line 1, the working name during planning having been "Kumatsucho". The line was renamed the Asakusa Line in 1978. The underground station has two opposed side platforms serving two tracks: Track 1 carries trains toward Sengakuji and Nishi-magome, while Track 2 carries trains toward Asakusa and Oshiage. Underground passages connect Higashi-nihombashi to Bakuro-yokoyama on the Toei Shinjuku Line and Bakurochō on the JR Sōbu Rapid Line, allowing free transfer between the three operators.
