History
Yatsu Station opened on 17 July 1921 as Yatsu-Kaigan Station on the Keisei Main Line, originally laid out with staggered side platforms separated by a level crossing. It was renamed Yatsu-Yūen on 10 April 1936 after the nearby amusement park, switched briefly back to Yatsu-Kaigan in 1939 under wartime austerity, then reverted to Yatsu-Yūen on 1 April 1948. A 1967 rebuild produced today's elevated island platform on the bluff of the Shimōsa Plateau, with the concourse cantilevered above. The amusement park closed in 1982, the station was renamed Yatsu on 24 November 1984, and express stops here ended the following October. A wheelchair-accessible platform elevator was installed on 27 April 2009.

Notes
The Yomiuri Giants trace their origins to a practice ground inside the former Yatsu-Yūen, where a monument near the south exit now marks the franchise's birthplace.
