History
Akasaka Station, on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line in the Akasaka district of Minato ward, Tokyo, opened on 20 October 1972 under the Teito Rapid Transit Authority. The station carries the line code C-06 and consists of a single island platform serving two tracks. With the privatisation of the TRTA on 1 April 2004, station facilities passed to Tokyo Metro, the current operator. The station sits next to the headquarters of Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings; automated platform and on-board announcements identify it as 'Akasaka, Akasaka, TBS-mae', reflecting the proximity of the broadcaster's facilities.
