History

Daimon Station opened on 1 October 1964 as a stop on Toei Subway Line 1 — the future Asakusa Line — in Minato, Tokyo. It is named for the Shiba Daimon, the great gate of Zojo-ji. The Asakusa Line section started as a single-track platform but was expanded to its current 2-track / 2-platform layout ahead of the Sengakuji extension. The Oedo Line station opened on 12 December 2000, making Daimon an interchange. The Asakusa Line gained Airport Limited Express stops the same day. PASMO acceptance started on 18 March 2007, and platform-edge doors entered service on the Asakusa Line platforms on 16 November 2019. The "Hamamatsucho" sub-name was extended to the Asakusa Line side on 18 February 2021.

Notes

JR East's Hamamatsucho Station is adjacent to Daimon, and Toei automated announcements call this station "Daimon Hamamatsucho" — but the two systems operate as separate stations.
