History

Kyōteijō-mae Station (SW 05) is a Seibu Railway Tamagawa Line station in Koyanagi-chō 4-chōme, Fuchū, Tokyo — the southernmost station in the Seibu Railway network. It opened on 1 June 1919 as Tsuneji Station, the then-terminus of the Tama Railway extension from Kita-Tama (today Shiraitodai). On 20 June 1922 the line was extended south to Koremasa, leaving Tsuneji as an intermediate station. The station was renamed Kyōteijō-mae (in front of the boat racetrack) on 21 May 1954 to publicise the adjacent Tamagawa Boat Race Course. Freight ended on 31 August 1967, and one side platform was abolished on 7 August 2005 ahead of February 2006 elevator installation, leaving a single-platform layout.

Notes

Since around 2018, the disused old up-line platform has displayed a retired motorboat as a promotional installation for the adjacent Tamagawa Boat Race Course — a fitting nod to the station's renaming in 1954 specifically to advertise the racetrack.
