History

Akabanebashi Station opened on 12 December 2000 as a stop on the Toei Ōedo Line in Minato, Tokyo, operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei). It carries the line code E-21. The station concourse, holding ticket vending machines and ticket gates, is on the first basement level (B1F); the platform, an island serving two tracks, sits on the second basement (B2F) below it. There are entrances at either end of the platform. The station lies about 500 metres west of Shibakōen Station on the Toei Mita Line, though no transfer corridor connects the two and they are not formally treated as transfer stations.

Notes

Despite being 500 metres from Shibakōen Station on the parallel Toei Mita Line, Akabanebashi is not officially recognised as a transfer station and no underground passageway links the two — a quirk that obliges Toei riders to exit and re-enter at street level for what is effectively a same-operator transfer.
