History
Kemigawa Station opened on 17 July 1921 on what is today the Keisei Chiba Line, in Kemigawa-chō within present-day Hanamigawa Ward of Chiba City. Because it predated the parallel JNR Sōbu Line station that opened in 1951, the Keisei name carries no "Keisei" prefix while the rival JNR stop was given the "Shin-" (new) qualifier to disambiguate. Line-wide station numbering reached Kemigawa as KS54 on 17 July 2010, exactly 89 years after opening. A barrier-free renewal of the station was carried out in 2019.

Notes
Kemigawa is the only station along the Makuhari-Hongō to Keisei-Inage parallel section that opened before the JNR/JR Sōbu Line, which is why the JR counterpart received the "Shin-" prefix in 1951.
