History
Tama-Dōbutsukōen Station opened on 29 April 1964 as the southern terminus of the Keiō Teito Tama Zoo Line, built to serve the newly opened Tama Zoological Park. The Tama Toshi Monorail Line reached the same site on 10 January 2000, turning the station into a junction between the two operators. The Keiō side was given the secondary name "Keiō Rail Land" on 10 October 2013 after a hands-on railway museum opened in the adjacent former rolling-stock storage yard. Monorail station numbering placed it at TT05 in February 2018, and the Keiō entrance was destaffed on 16 February 2024.

The Keiō Rail Land museum that gave the station its 2013 secondary name occupies the former Keiō rolling-stock yard built directly next to the platforms in 1964.
