History
Sports Center Station opened on 28 March 1988 as the southern terminus of the first segment of Chiba Urban Monorail's Line 2, running south from Sports Center to the temporary terminus of the day in Chiba's Inage Ward. The monorail's extension into central Chiba on 12 June 1991 converted the stop into a through station. PASMO IC cards became usable on 14 March 2009, the station was made completely unstaffed on 1 April 2015, and toilets were rebuilt with western-style fittings on 9 March 2021.
