History
Dōbutsukōen Station opened on 28 March 1988 on the Chiba Urban Monorail's Line 2 in Wakaba-ku, Chiba. The elevated station has two island platforms serving three tracks, with platforms 2 and 3 sharing track, and lies 5.2 kilometres from the line's northern terminus at Chiba Station. The Hagidai depot adjoins the station, so a number of services start and terminate here. IC card use through PASMO began on 14 March 2009. The station carries the line number CM09 and takes its name from Chiba Zoological Park, whose main gate is directly linked to the station's north exit by a pedestrian deck.
