History
Keiō-Horinouchi Station opened on 21 May 1988 with the Keiō Sagamihara Line's extension from Chōfu to Minami-Ōsawa, sited at the Bessho–Horinouchi "district centre" of Tama New Town in Hachiōji, Tokyo. The two-side-platform elevated station, numbered KO42, was designed with a generous footprint anticipating future passenger growth from the surrounding development. Rapid trains began calling here from 28 May 1992. The station building and ticket gates were relocated as part of an internal renovation on 3 August 2013. The Keio name prefix was added because the existing "Horinouchi" station name was already used by Keikyu.

Notes
Excavations during station construction unearthed human bones initially feared to indicate a crime; they were later identified as Jōmon-Yayoi remains, alongside ancient pottery and stone tools.
