History
Nishi-Tsuruga Station opened on 1 September 1962 on the Obama Line in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, 3.3 kilometres from the line’s terminus at Tsuruga. It transferred from Japanese National Railways to West Japan Railway Company (JR West) at the privatisation of 1 April 1987. The station is a minimal halt: a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, with no station building, and is operated as unattended. It serves a residential edge of the city together with Fukui Prefectural Tsuruga Industrial High School.
