History

Tamasakai Station is a passenger station on the Keiō Sagamihara Line in the city of Machida, Tokyo, operated by Keio Corporation. It opened on 6 April 1991, 20.1 kilometres from the Sagamihara Line's starting point at Chōfu and 35.6 kilometres from the Keio Line's Shinjuku terminus. The station consists of two opposed ground-level side platforms serving two tracks. When Keio introduced station numbering across its network on 22 February 2013, Tamasakai was assigned the code KO44. The station serves the southern reaches of Tama New Town, the large planned development that prompted construction of the Sagamihara Line in the first place.
