History

Chibadera Station opened on 1 April 1992 as a stop on the Chiba Kyūkō Electric Railway's Chiba Kyūkō Line. On 1 October 1998 the line was transferred to Keisei Electric Railway and renamed the Keisei Chihara Line, with the station coming under Keisei management. Station numbering was applied to all Keisei stations on 17 July 2010, when Chibadera was assigned KS61. The elevated station has two side platforms but uses only one; the would-be up-bound platform is sealed off and its track was never laid, although the surrounding viaduct is built to accommodate eventual double-track use. The station sits in Chibadera-chō, Chūō-ku, Chiba City; about 1 km south is Soga Station on JR East, though no through-fare linkage exists.

Notes

A 1980s plan would have brought Chiba Urban Monorail Line 1 from Kenchō-mae to Chibadera as its extension, but the route was rerouted to avoid the station for cost reasons and was eventually shelved.
