History
Gumyō Station opened on 1 November 1911 as a station of the Japanese Government Railways in what is now the city of Tōgane, Chiba Prefecture. It later passed to Japan National Railways after the Second World War, and scheduled freight handling ended on 1 October 1962. With the 1 April 1987 privatisation of JNR, operation passed to JR East. The station is served by the Tōgane Line linking Ōami and Narutō, sitting 9.6 km from the Ōami terminus. Its two opposed side platforms are short, accommodating trains of no more than six cars, and the station is staffed. Surrounding institutions include the Chiba Tōgane campus of Josai International University and the Chiba Prefectural Police Academy.
