History

Akasaka Station opened on 19 June 1929 as a stop on the Fuji Sanroku Electric Railway (now the Fujikyuko Line). The operator was renamed Fuji Kyūkō (Fujikyu) on 30 May 1960, and Suica IC service was introduced on 14 March 2015. On 1 April 2022, when Fujikyu split off its railway business, the station passed to the Mt. Fuji Mountain Range Electric Railway (Fujisan-Roku Electric Railway). The station carries number FJ05.

Notes

Akasaka has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, with a small station house containing only a waiting room and a simple Suica gate. Although unstaffed for most of the day, the great majority of users are local high-school students, so on weekday mornings one staff member is temporarily assigned. Most users come from the adjacent Katsura High School and Health Sciences University of Yamanashi.
