History

Kodomonokuni Station opened on 24 July 1936 as Susaki Station on what is now the Meitetsu Gamagōri Line in the city of Nishio, Aichi Prefecture. The station was closed in 1944 during World War II, and reopened on 1 October 1952 at a new location west of the original site, becoming unattended from that time. With the opening of the Aichi Kodomonokuni amusement park on 29 October 1974, Susaki Station was relocated again that month, roughly 400 m east of its 1952 site, and on 10 October 1976 it was renamed Kodomonokuni to reflect the park it serves. The station, today numbered GN17, lies 8.9 km from the line's starting point at Kira Yoshida and has a single side platform.

Notes

Although the station was rebuilt for amusement-park crowds with an unusually wide ground-level entrance, by 2023 daily boardings and alightings had fallen to 161, the lowest of all 275 Meitetsu stations.
