History

Center-Kita Station opened on 18 March 1993 when Yokohama Municipal Subway Line 3, today the Blue Line, was extended from Shin-Yokohama to Azamino. The above-ground metro station sits in Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, at the northern half of the Kōhoku New Town town-centre district, an area designated as one of Yokohama's major residential and commercial centres. Platform screen doors were installed in April 2007, and services on the Green Line began on 30 March 2008 when the new line opened with its own dedicated island platform at the station. The station today functions as the interchange between the Blue Line, 37.3 km from Shōnandai, and the Green Line, 5.7 km from Nakayama, with two elevated island platforms serving four tracks.

Notes

The station's mezzanine ceiling is pierced by two circular skylights that deliberately echo and contrast with the triangular ones at neighbouring Center-Minami Station.
