History

Center-Minami Station opened on 18 March 1993 when Yokohama Municipal Subway Line 3, later renamed the Blue Line, was extended from Shin-Yokohama to Azamino. The above-ground metro station sits in Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, in the southern half of the Kōhoku New Town town-centre district, an area designated as one of Yokohama's major residential and commercial centres. Platform screen doors were installed in April 2007. Services on the Green Line began on 30 March 2008 when the new line opened with its own dedicated island platform, and Line 3 was renamed the Blue Line at the same time. The station today functions as the southern interchange between the two lines, with two elevated island platforms serving four tracks.

Notes

The station's mezzanine ceiling is fitted with triangular skylights, an intentional shape pairing with the circular skylights at neighbouring Center-Kita Station less than a kilometre away.
