History
Fujii Station opened on 1 August 1961 as a new infill stop on the Japan National Railways' Obama Line between Mikata and Tomura, in what is now the town of Wakasa, Fukui Prefecture. The station passed to JR West at the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987. The unmanned stop has a single side platform on the right-hand side facing Tsuruga with a simple shelter and no station building or ticket vending machine; the 2.0-kilometre gap to the next station at Tomura is the shortest interstation distance on the Obama Line.
