History
Seki-Shimouchi Station opened on 11 December 1986 with the third-sector transfer of the JNR Etsumi-Nan Line to the Nagaragawa Railway, under the original name Chūnō-Nishikōmae (中濃西高前駅) — meaning "in front of Chūnō Nishi High School," which it had been built to serve as a requested station. After the Chūnō Nishi High School merged with Chūnō High School on 1 April 2004 to form Seki Yūchi High School, the station was renamed Seki-Shimouchi on 1 April 2006. The station carries number 9.

Notes
The station is a single-platform halt with no station building; the platform sits to the right of the line looking toward Seki, and entrances are at both ends, with a vending machine and municipal bicycle stand near the Mino-shi (north) end. The station was originally named after Gifu Prefectural Chūnō Nishi High School (now Seki Yūchi High School), which remains the principal user.
