History
Matsue-Shinjiko-Onsen Station opened on 5 April 1928 as Kita-Matsue Station (北松江駅), serving the city of Matsue in Shimane Prefecture. It was renamed Matsue-Onsen Station (松江温泉駅) on 1 October 1970, then took its present name on 1 April 2002. The station is the terminus of the Ichibata Electric Railway’s Kita-Matsue Line, located 33.9 km from the opposing terminus at Dentetsu-Izumoshi, and is served by both local and express trains. The current layout consists of two bay platforms and the station is staffed. It sits beside the Matsue Shinjiko hot spring district, with Shimane Prefectural Office and Matsue City Hall reachable within a short walk.
