History

Shin-takashima Station opened on 1 February 2004 with the opening of the Yokohama Minatomirai Railway’s underground Minatomirai Line, in Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. The third-sector line’s 4.1 km route runs from Yokohama to Motomachi-Chūkagai, and Shin-takashima sits 0.8 km from the line’s starting point at Yokohama. Trains through-run from the Tokyu Toyoko Line, the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, the Tobu Tojo Line and the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. The station is the deepest underground on the Minatomirai Line, with two side platforms serving two tracks. Platform screen doors were the last of any Minatomirai Line station to be brought into service, becoming operational on 6 November 2021.
