History
Mino-Kawai Station opened on 26 December 1952 as a passenger-only, unstaffed Japanese National Railways station on the Taita Line. With JNR's privatization on 1 April 1987 the station came under JR Central. The waiting shelter was rebuilt in March 1989, and TOICA service became available on 13 March 2010. The station is on a sharply curved section of single track, with the entire single side platform tracing the curve; entry is via a small unstaffed shelter. It bears station number CI01 and sits 15.4 kilometres from the line's official starting point at Tajimi. Mino-Ōta, the next station and the Taita Line's terminus, manages Mino-Kawai administratively.
