History

Kōfūdai Station opened on 23 December 1976 in Nakatakane, Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, as the newest station on the Kominato Railway's Kominato Line; it was built to serve the then-new Kōfūdai housing development. The station marked its 40th anniversary on 23 December 2016, and a commemorative "memories" photo exhibition of pictures from the area between opening and around 1988 ran in the station concourse from 16 December 2016 to 15 January 2017. The grounds consist of a wide island platform serving two tracks, connected to the station building by an overpass, and Kōfūdai is the only Kominato Line station with platform approach announcements.

Notes

Kōfūdai is the only station on the Kominato Line with an automated platform approach announcement — a rare feature on the rural single-track Kominato Railway.
