History

Izumino Station opened on 8 April 1976 as the terminus of the new Sagami Railway Izumino Line, a 6.0 km extension running south from Futamatagawa Station. On 4 April 1990 the line was further extended to Izumi-chuo, demoting Izumino from a terminal to an intermediate stop. Rapid services began calling here on 27 February 1999, and the station was added to the limited express stopping pattern on 27 April 2014. The station building was renovated in 2017 under the Sotetsu Design Brand-Up Project, gaining a partial red-brick exterior. Platform-edge doors were activated in March 2023.

Notes

Originally the line was planned to continue to Odakyu's Chogo Station; the route was redirected to Shonandai, leaving the alignment south of Izumino curving westward.
