History

Kanigawa Station opened on 24 April 1925 as Rhine Yūen Station (ライン遊園駅) on the Meitetsu Hiromi Line, in the present-day city of Kani, Gifu Prefecture. Over the following decades it carried two different names before being given its current name, Kanigawa Station. It is an unstaffed station with two opposed side platforms connected by a level crossing.

Notes

The station sits beside the Kani River from which it takes its current name, with the Kayaba Industry plant immediately adjacent—an industrial neighbour very different from the riverside "Rhine Park" amusement resort the station was originally built to serve.
