History
Midami Station opened on January 15, 1952 on the Kita-Matsue Line, in the Midami neighbourhood of Izumo, Shimane Prefecture. The line and station are operated by the private interurban operator Ichibata Electric Railway. Midami became an unstaffed stop on November 1, 1979, and on April 1, 2006 the railway business was transferred to a newly established subsidiary, Ichibata Densha Co., Ltd., as part of Ichibata Electric Railway's shift to a holding-company structure. In September 2011, the station was renovated by a group of volunteers from Australia, other parts of Japan, and Tokyo. The single-platform stop sits 7.7 kilometers from the line's terminus at Dentetsu-Izumoshi.
