History

Nishi-Kani Station was created on 16 March 1969 by consolidating three earlier Hiromi Line stops on a newly double-tracked section. Those predecessors - Aigi, Katabira and Harusato - had all opened together on 24 April 1925. Initially unstaffed, the station was promoted to a high-speed train stop on 20 March 1977 and a limited-express stop on 18 March 1983, while staff were reinstated on 29 April 1980 to handle traffic from the Katabira New Town residential development. Automatic ticket gates entered service in May 1987, Manaca IC-card service began on 11 February 2011, and the station was destaffed again on 30 September 2023.

Notes

Although the predecessor Aigi Station carried the line's name, it stood inside Inuyama at the Aichi side of the Aigi Tunnel; when stops were consolidated the new Nishi-Kani site lay entirely within Gifu's Kani municipality.
