History

Hosobata Station opened on 21 January 1926 on the Kakamigahara Railway. The line was absorbed into Meigi Railway in March 1935 and into Nagoya Railroad five months later. The station was destaffed on 16 February 1967. Elevation works converted the layout to today's two-platform elevated structure between 18 March and 16 December 1979. On 16 December 2006 a station-management system was introduced with Tranpas IC card support, replaced by Manaca on 11 February 2011. The platforms are entirely on a 300 m radius curve, and the section through Hosobata is the only elevated stretch of the Kakamigahara Line between Tagami and Kiridoshi.

Notes

Although the platforms sit on a 300 m curve, the elevated station has no elevator, escalator, or restroom - stair access only.
