History

Izumo Science Center Park Town Mae Station is operated by the Ichibata Electric Railway in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, and lies 0.8 km from the Kita-Matsue Line's terminus at Dentetsu-Izumoshi. It opened on 15 September 1928 as Imaichi-Kamimachi Station, and around 1941 was renamed Daiwabō-mae after a Daiwabō textile mill nearby. The station took its present form on 20 July 2002, when it was named for the Izumo Science Center that had recently opened nearby. The single semi-elevated side platform serves a bidirectional track, and there is no station building; the station is unstaffed.

Notes

The 1941 rename to Daiwabō-mae tied the station's identity to a textile mill that still operates beside the platform; the 2002 change to its present name redirected the station's branding to the newly built Izumo Science Center on the same side of the tracks.
