History
Nemoto Station is on the JR Central Taita Line in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, 4.8 km from the line's starting point at Tajimi and carries station number CI05. It opened on 15 February 1920 as a station on the privately operated original Tōnō Railway, then passed into the Ministry of Railways' Taita Line at nationalisation on 25 September 1926. The original station was closed on 1 October 1928 when the line was rebuilt to a new alignment with standard gauge, and the present station was opened on the new route on 26 December 1952. Operation was contracted out in 1972. The station passed to JR Central at JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987, and ICOCA's TOICA card became available on 13 March 2010 via a simplified card-reader installation.

Notes
Although the station handles modest single-platform local traffic, it retains a JR-Zenshi-kippu staffed ticket window operated by Tōkai Transport contractors, with the window briefly closing several times during its 8:00–19:00 service day.
